Destructive earthquakes in Turkey and Syria (updated)

The number of victims of the earthquake in Turkey exceeded 1651, Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said.

The country’s emergency department also reported 11,119 victims. According to the agency, 2,824 buildings collapsed.

In Syria, where the earthquake hit the northern part of the country, according to the latest data, more than 780 people were killed, 2280 were injured, houses were partially or completely destroyed in 58 Syrian settlements, mainly in the northwest of the country, including Latakia.
