Former Tavush governor Hovik Abovyan forfeits about 608 million AMD (Equivalent to $1.5 million) in favor of the Republic of Armenia

The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that within the framework of asset forfeiture proceedings concerning illegally acquired property, a settlement agreement was reached on February 15, 2024, between former Tavush Governor Hovik Abovyan and his affiliated persons.
The basis for the court-approved settlement was the application submitted on January 22, 2024, by Abovyan and his affiliates to the Prosecutor General’s Office, requesting the conclusion of the case through settlement, by which they expressed readiness to transfer approximately 608 million AMD to the ownership of the Republic of Armenia.
As of September 26, 2025, the entire sum of about 608 million AMD has been fully paid into the state budget of Armenia.
