The Heroes – Karen Meliksetyan

Today’s edition of “The Heroes” TV program tells about Karen Meliksetyan from Tavush.

BIOGRAPHY

Karen Armen Meliksetyan was born on March 5, 2001, in Dilijan. Karen was the youngest child of the family, they say he as a lively and playful child.

In 2007 he got admitted to Dilijan Secondary School N 4 and actively participated in sports clubs.

In 2016, he got admitted to the Cooking Department at Dilijan State College. He graduated from the college with excellence and was drafted to the Armenian Army and started serving in Hadrut.

Two months later, he continued his military service in Hoktemberyan for training purposes, then, he moved to Hadrut where he received the rank of a sergeant.

From the first day of the war, he was on the front line, defending the positions of Varanda. Breaking through the blockade, they reached Martuni 2, but on October 31, while performing a combat mission, he was killed by an aerial bomb explosion. Relatives say with nostalgia that Karen had a big dream of becoming a professional cook.




2023 Summer Military Draft continues

On June 29, another group of conscripts left for mandatory military service.
The workers of Tavush Administrative Center, the conscripts’ parents, relatives, and friends came to see them off.

Another group of new recruits went to the Armenian Army

The summer draft of 2023 has started in the Republic of Armenia. Another group of recruits left for mandatory military service from Ijevan to join the ranks of the Armenian army, to pay the debt to the sacred homeland and to fulfill their constitutionally stipulated duty.

The employees of Ijevan Municipality came to see them off, and gave packages full of basic necessities to the recruits.




A collection of poems by Levon Mantashyan, martyred in the 44-day war, was published

“Forever Soldier,” this is the name of the collection of poems by Levon Mantashyan from Dilijan, martyred in the 44-day war.

Levon Mantashyan started writing at the age of 15. He wrote a number of original songs and poems which were collected and published in the book “Forever Soldier”.

Այսօր իմ սենյակում աստղեր չկան,
Իմ սենյակում այսօր վարագույրները փակ են,
Եվ իմ կյանքի բեմում կեղծանուններ չկան,
Որովհետև բեմի հետևում ես մենակ եմ։
Եվ ուրեմն…
Ես գնում եմ ուրիշ աշխարհ,
Որտեղ չկա, չկա քո պատկերը,

Levon was born on April3, 2001, in the city of Perm in the Russian Federation. In 2007, he moved to Dilijan and was admitted to Basic School No 4, then continued his education at Dilijan High School. In 2019, he was drafted into the army, serving in the first defense district of the Republic of Artsakh. Levon fought with his fellow soldiers and died on the battlefield on October 10, 2020.




The border situation in Tavush is quiet

The information about shootings in the direction of Noyemberyan and Berd communities is not tru; Astghik Hakobyan, head of Berd community, informed in the conversation with Tavush Media.

The awarding ceremony of the servicemen of Tavush took place

The heroes of Tavush are also among the servicemen martyred as a result of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on September 13, 2022.

The commander of the platoon, lieutenant Sarmen Bejanyan, junior sergeant Lavrenti Episkoposyan, junior sergeant Tigran Musayelyan were posthumously awarded the “Combat Service” medal by the decree of the RA President. On March 27, the awarding ceremony of the servicemen took place.

The purpose of the event was to once again appreciate and express gratitude for the feats and selfless service of the boys.

“Combat Service” medals were handed over to the family members of servicemen who were posthumously awarded medals for their contribution to the defense of the Motherland, their bravery and unwavering dedication during combat operations.




On the book day, the Ministry of ESCS of the RA donated 100 books to the libraries of 2 border military units.

The books were handed over by representatives of the Tavush Regional Library under the ministry, led by director Anahit Ghukasyan.
The officers of the military units expressed their gratitude for the initiative to replenish the libraries of the military units with new books and to mark the day with the soldiers in this way.

Winter conscription continues in Tavush.

On January 27,  for the Day of the Army and the 31st anniversary of the formation of the RA Armed Forces, a solemn ceremony of raising the RA flag was held in the “Soranner” Arboretum of Berd.
