A new neighborhood under construction in Tavush village: 8 residential houses for families displaced from Artsakh and local families

In Tavush village, AMAA has launched the “Tavush” community development program, aimed at creating comfortable living conditions, ensuring sustainable income, and fostering joint community life between local families and those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.

Within the three-year program, a new neighborhood will be built in Tavush, consisting of 8 residential houses equipped with solar power stations. In addition, selected families will be provided with raspberry orchards, guesthouse businesses, and greenhouse farms with the opportunity to cultivate strawberries.

The program aims to create about 30 jobs, as well as provide agricultural machinery for cultivating the land plots of the selected families. To further strengthen both local and displaced families, they will also have the opportunity to engage in bakery and confectionery production, as well as juice, compote, and jam production.

Throughout the program, various trainings and consultations will be carried out, enabling the selected families to independently manage their farms and businesses.

Young people for improving media literacy in the region. interview with the beneficiaries of the “Youth for trustful media” program

“Civic Youth Center” community development NGO started a series of two-day media literacy courses in the fall of 2022 for the youth of Ijevan, Dilijan, Berd and Noyemberyan communities of Tavush region.After the courses, the participants got the chance to present their projects aimed at combating against disinformation in the sub-grant competition.

On the pavilion of Tavush TV, the winners of the sub-grant were hosted. We talked about the project, participation, implementation of the project and the importance of such projects.

Our guest at the Tavush TV pavilion is Sargis Alaverdyan, a participant of the 44-day war. Sargis left for mandatory military service in 2019 and had been a soldier for a year when the war began. He was wounded on the very first day of the war.

At the Tavush TV Pavilion, we discussed the need for regional media, problems of survival, the responsibility of the media, the targets of the regional media, and again and again the topics of media literacy.

The war as a Stress. An interview with Armen Bejanyan, Inga Harutyunyan, and Armen Soghoyan

“Any war, any terrorism physically affects a specific number of people, but psychologically affects the entire population… And not dealing with the mental health of the whole society is as dangerous as not dealing with physical and mental problems of specific people.”

In our pavilion, we talk with psychologist Armen Bejanyan, psychiatrist Armen Soghoyan, and director of “The Pahapan Development Fund,” psychologist Inga Harutyunyan about war as stress, stress management, and the negative consequences of living under chronic stress, psycho-physical diseases, and we also discuss the consequences of war; the reality of dealing with grief, how to live after a loss, the role of a psychologist as a supporter, when a psychiatrist needs to intervene, and how people, relatives, or society can help or hinder the bereaved.

Psychological problems caused by the war. How to face them. Interview

In our pavilion, we talk with psychiatrist Armen Soghoyan and psychologist Armen Bejanyan about the impact of the war situation, post-traumatic stress disorders, ways to overcome mental health problems, first psychological support, and other issues.

Since 2021, free psychological counseling has been available in Tavush region for all the people affected by the war.

The 1940 visits have already been carried out, about 100 psychologists have had about 250hours of training, 84 schoolchildren and 356 disabled children have received psychological support. Due to the project, reintegration into society and entry into the labor market has been facilitated for more than 200 direct beneficiaries.
