According to the decision of the RA government, 224 million 100 thousand drams will be allocated for the creation of 23 educational institutions, 9 educational complexes and the construction of 14 schools in Tavush and Vayots Dzor regions, as well as for the acquisition of design and budget documents necessary for the construction of schools in the urban areas of Syunik region.

The RA Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports notes that considering a number of factors: availability of school and preschool buildings, number of students, etc., a number of settlements were selected where educational complexes will be formed. The following 5 settlements were selected for the establishment of educational complexes in Tavush region: Lusadzor, Ptghavan, Aghavnavank, Norashen and Voskevan.

According to Zhanna Andreasyan, as a result of the conducted studies, it was decided to build new school buildings for those settlements with a large school population. Those schools in Tavush marz are: H. Malinyan secondary school in Ayrum, Koti secondary school, Bagratashen M. Magulyan secondary school No. 1, Artsvaberd secondary school No. 1, Aygedzor secondary school, Noyemberyan high school No. 1 (a secondary school will be built), Koghb secondary school No. 1 named after J. Karakhanyan, and Sevkar secondary school.

Recently, a bust of famous pedagogue, distinguished teacher Bagrat Sahakyan was installed in secondary school No. 2 named after Bagrat Sahakyan in Koghb.

On May 12, the opening ceremony of the bust was solemnly held. The installation of the bust was carried out by the joint initiative of the Sahakyan’s family and the school. At the event, the teaching and student of the school presented Bagrat Sahakyan’s life and his path.

The life of his children, who today are the best and exemplary specialists of the republic, was also presented. Bagrat Sahakyan’s contemporary colleagues were present at the ceremony, who told about the high human qualities of the teacher. Bagrat Sahakyan worked at Koghb School No. 1 and 2 for more than 50 years.

Koghb Secondary School No. 2 named after Bagrat Shakyan will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Today, the school ranks among the best schools in the country, students always participate in Olympiads and come back with victories.

In Jujevan Secondary School of Tavush Region, a training was held on the topic  “Fire extinguishing and rescue activities at educational institutions,” which was carried out by the Noyemberyan fire-rescue squad No. 1 of the Rescue Service of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Tavush regional rescue department, under the command of the deputy commander of the squad, lieutenant colonel of the rescue service, Hayk Azatyan. During the exercises, the learners together with the rescuers, did search and rescue operations to bring out victims  and fire extinguishing exercises.

The chemistry laboratory of the Haghartsin secondary school was equipped with new equipment and materials. As the students say, the classroom process has become more interesting and vivid, all the necessary conditions have been created for them to turn the theory into a scientific experiment.



This is the first winter that the school of Choratan village is gasified and heated. Some months ago, Fund for Armenian Relief and “Paros” foundation, with the support of Tavush Administrative center helped the school to get the necessary equipments for the heating.

The school built 55 years ago was heated by wood stoves.

The teacher say that it is not even comparable to the previous conditions.

The school with 100 students solved the primary problem and has new plans for the future.

Today, the regional stage of the subject olympiads for schoolchildren in the subject of mathematics started in the primary school No. 1 of Ijevan, the regional center of Tavush.

The regional stage was preceded by the school stage, in which 1619 students of grades 5-12 participated.Among them, 19 students who passed the transitional stage won the right to participate in the regional stage.

The “EU4 Innovation” grant program has been summarized which was launched on October 30, 2020.

The objective of the program was to increase the capacities of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation and to enhance the environment for STEM education.

The program consists of two components – “Advancement of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation by regulating mechanisms affecting the quality of general education”, and “Improving the STEM learning environment through the acquisition of property and equipment”.

The main objective of the “Advancement of the National Center for Education Development and Innovation by regulating mechanisms affecting the quality of general education” component is to provide technical support to the NCEDI, contributing to the development of the organization’s capabilities. The provided support covers the main sectors of general education: professional development of teachers, which includes training and certification of teachers, management and evaluation of educational processes in schools, methodology for the development and expertise of curricula, materials, and the development of corresponding guidelines. Within the framework of the program, 50 laptops were provided to the NCEDI to organize the activities of the organization more efficiently.

The objective of the “Improving the STEM learning environment through the acquisition of property and equipment” component is to enhance the environment for teaching STEM subjects in schools of Tavush region by providing laboratory equipment and property for Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geography and ICT. As part of the component, 76 secondary schools of Tavush received laboratory equipment and property for STEM subjects and ICT. On June 7, the reporting concert event of Ijevan Music Secondary School for the 2021-2022 academic year took place.
