The opening ceremony of Dovegh village park took place

On November 29, the opening ceremony of Dovegh village park,  renovated by the “Dovegh” charitable foundation, took place.

According to the director of the fund, the renovation of the park was the concluding point of the three-year program of the “Dovegh” fund. The purpose of “Dovegh” Foundation is to encourage settlement and resettlement in the village.

Important conversations about hope, will, and action. On November 22, a community event in the format of TED talks was organized at YSU Ijevan branch. Such an event is being organized for the 2nd time within the framework of the activity of the “American Library and Training Center.”

During their speeches, the speakers of the event addressed mainly 2 topics, talking about the importance of social inclusion and equality and the importance of individual initiative.

Accomplished people who have faced difficulties in life and have great public recognition were invited. The speakers were Ladislav Beraneck, Gevorg Simonyan, Narine Grigoryan, Sargis Stepanyan, and Sirarpi Mughdusyan.

YSU IB students also attended the meeting and addressed their questions to the speakers. At the end of the event, certificates of appreciation were given to the speakers.






Small agricultural machinery was provided to the farmers of Ijevan and Berd communities

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations continues to support Armenian families with funding from the European Union. On December 2, small agricultural machinery was provided to the economic entities of 25 settlements of Ijevan and Berd communities of Tavush marz, who are involved in local active groups.Equipment provided includes two-wheel tractors, tillers, rotary mowers, electric sprayers, diesel generators and welding equipment.

The support was provided within the framework of the “Empowerment of local actors for development in Lori and Tavush regions” project, which is financed by the European Union and jointly with the United Nations Development Program. The support is aimed at increasing the resilience of small farmers.

The project is implemented in Tavush and Lori regions as part of the concept of community-led local development and aims to actively involve local authorities and the population in development processes by creating infrastructures supporting local development and improving the capacities of relevant ministries and agencies.






Earthquake 99 km southwest of the city of Makhachkala; also felt in Tavush

On December 8, at 10:42 a.m. local time (06:42 a.m. GMT), the seismological network of the Seismic Protection Territorial Service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia registered 99 from the city of Makhachkala, Russia, at the geographical coordinates of 42.23⁰ north latitude and 46.82⁰ east longitude. km south-west, with a depth of 10 km, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6.

The strength of the underground shock in the epicentral zone was 7-8 points.

The earthquake was felt in Tavush, Lori marzes with a magnitude of 3-4 and in Gegharkunik marz with a magnitude of 3.




From ordinary to unique. Edita Ellaryan’s business in border Sarigiugh

3 years ago, 15-year-old Edita took part in a business planning course and then thought that she could have her own business. Now 18-year-old Edita Ellaryan from Sarigiugh has her own business. she paints on canvas, giving life to her ideas and, earns money by selling her handiwork.

She did the first work on her clothes, then, being satisfied with the result, she started accepting orders. She also sings while working, conveying a positive mood to her customers.

Edita aims to expand her business and also make her village known. She is sure that we can all create a job by staying in the village and living and creating right on the border.

Consecration of the chapel and unveiling of the bust in memory of Karen Margaryan, immortalized in the 44-day war

 

On November 23, the bust of Karen Margaryan, who died in the 44-day war, was unveiled in Paravakar village. The chapel at the top of the village, built in memory of Karen, was consecrated.

Karen Margaryan was born on November 23, 2000, in the village of Paravakar, Tavush region. From 2006-2018 he studied at Paravakar Secondary School, named after Edik Melkumyan. After graduating from school, he was admitted to the finance faculty of the Yerevan State University of Economics. But on January 30, 2019, leaving his studies incomplete, he was drafted into the Armenian Army.

Karen died on September 27, 2020, while performing a combat mission.
