On May 17, an extraordinary session of the board of the “Tavush Region Tourism Development Agency” NGO was held at the Tavush Administrative Center. Narek Ghushchyan chaired the meeting due to the absence of the Chairman of the Council, Gor Aleksanyan.

The meeting was attended by members of the council, Tavush Region Governor Hayk Ghalumyan, Deputy Governor Narek Ghushchyan, leaders of the enlarged communities, YSU IB Director Anushavan Makaryan, Head of Development and Implementation Department of the Regional Administrative Center Gurgen Harutyunyan, Executive Director of “Tavush Tourism Development Agency” NGO Syuzanna Petrosyan, and Sos Khachikyan.

Syuzanna Petrosyan presented the work done so far. During the session, questions related to the Internal Tourism Expo were discussed.

At the end of the session, Gor Aleksanyan, chairman of the board of the “Tavush Tourism Development Agency” NGO, was released from the duties of the chairman of the board, as well as from the duties of the board member of the organization. As a result of the discussion, Sos Khachikyan was appointed as the chairman of the council instead of him, which was accepted unanimously.

Tourism is in the top three of the most wanted specialties of the YSU IB. The director explains this by studying the employment of about 300 graduates of the department.

On February 3, the first meeting of the Tavush Tourism Club was held at Popock guest house in Dilijan. The event once again united the representatives of tourist businesses of Tavush on one platform. The meeting started with the presentation of the implemented and future projects related to the field of tourism in Tavush region; the director of the Tavush tourism development agency spoke about them.

Then, the director of Modus Consulting company spoke about the creation and activities of the newly created TAVUSH TOURISM CLUB. The event was also marked by the presentation of “Hovaz” wines from Dilijan.

The representative of Tavush Media also made a speech at the meeting, presenting a summary of the activities of regional media and talking about possible ways of cooperation.

During the meeting, the attendees also shared inspiring and encouraging stories about creating their brands. The participants were also involved in 3 working groups. Group discussions took place on the topics “Creative Industry and Tourism,” “Destination Management Organization in Tourism,” and “Value Chain in Tourism.” The final component of the event was a networking blog through which attendees created opportunities to collaborate.



Susanna Hakobyan, the first deputy chairman of the RA Tourism Committee, and Narine Simonyan, the adviser of the committee, presented the 2023 programs to be implemented by the tourism committee, focusing on the activities and grants aimed at promoting the tourism sector of the regions.

Tavush vice-governor Narek Ghushchyan, representatives of the governor’s office and communities, sector officials, businessmen also attended the meeting.

The first extreme entertainment complex in Armenia, Yell Extreme Park, is seven years old.

After a two-year interval, the birthday of Yell Extreme Park was again celebrated this year. On August 6, many nature and adventure lovers of the regions of Armenia and abroad gathered in Apaga Resort. During the Yell’up event, interesting games and various activities were planned for the guests to ensure pleasant entertainment.

Yell Extreme Park was created in 2015. It is the first extreme entertainment place in Armenia, which provides an opportunity to do extreme sports without the need to be a professional. It unites adventure, nature, and active rest lovers.

Yell Extreme Park aims to contribute to the development of adventure tourism in Armenia, create new jobs, activate public life, and promote a healthy lifestyle. It implements a number of projects aimed at the development of the sector to become a major tourism center in the region.

The event organizers intend to organize a big and different event every year, involving more and more people and celebrate the birthday of Yell together in the nature of Yenokavan, accompanied by crazy rhythms and various adventure games.

“We try to create an environment where each of our guests can celebrate their birthday here,” says Tigran Chibukhchyan, Director of Apaga Projects.



The works of the joint investment project of the Armenian National Interests Fund (ANIF) and Apaga Projects are near completion, and all the services will soon be available to the public.

Apaga Projects company owns two projects in Yenokavan community of Tavush region: Apaga Resort hotel complex and Yell Park amusement park.

Tigran Chibukhchyan, the Director of Apaga Projects company, presents the completed works, “Now we are expanding with the support of ANIF, we will have twice more workplaces than now. In 2019, we reached 97 000 annual visitors to the community; now the goal is to reach 250 000 visitors.”

The cooperation between ANIF and Apaga Projects was aimed at the construction of a new 2.5 km long zipline at Yell Extreme Park and the introduction of a new sports entertainment platform as well as the infrastructure of the Apaga Resort hotel complex, including the development of a new kitchen and the increase of hotel room number stock.

According to Bella Manukyan, the director of “Entrepreneur + state fund” (Armenian National interests Fund’s (ANIF) subsidiary), the investment made in Apaga Projects was particularly important from the perspective of the community development, “the investment will have a direct impact on the quality of life and economic life of Yenokavan community and neighboring communities.”

The purpose of the activity of the investment fund of ANIF “Entrepreneur + State Investment Manager” company is to stimulate the inflow of private capital into the economy and, through it, to promote the development of local businesses. The fund makes investments in local companies contributing to the development and expansion of Armenian enterprises. Both new and existing business projects registered in the Republic of Armenia that meet the standards of the fund are subject to financing by the fund. The participation of the fund is 25-49%, and the amount of participation in one program is 0.5 – 4 million US Dollars (equivalent to AMD).



“Shenlik” is a new tourist destination for those who value fresh air and peace. On July 3, the “Shenlik” guest house opened its doors in Chinchin village.

The founders of the guest house are Gayane and Voskan, a young couple. They say it was their dream to contribute to the development of the village.

The guest house was built with their own efforts and resources, and the Ancor Armenia company provided technical support.

Chinchin village is rich in sights and historical-cultural places.
The village can be a new tourist destination with its unique nature and hospitality. It was with this hope that Voskan and Gayane brought the idea of the guest house to life.

“The easiest way is to leave and run away, but it is better to stay, create and be an example for the others,” says Gayane.

Today during the opening event, the guests walked around the guest house, familiarized themselves with the conditions, and attended the cultural program and theatrical performance. In the amazing nature of Chinchin, “Shenlik” is already waiting for its first guests.



Tasting, live music, dance, master classes, gastronomic quest: On May 6-8, the three-day GastroFest gastronomic festival took place in Dilijan City Park, during which more than 20 participants, including restaurants, cafes, canned food, natural products, and beverage producers of different regions of Armenia presented their products to the guests.

The festival was held in the scale of a city fair, during which the participants offered their guests various dishes and drinks that their area is famous for.  

“Karin” folk song and dance ensemble held master classes during which the guests had the opportunity to learn Armenian national dances.

During the festival, “Zinvori Tun”(Soldier’s house) charity pavilion operated, from where the guests of the festival could buy souvenirs and handicrafts made by the participants of the 44-day war.
