“For the best audience”

It was no ordinary day at one of Armenia’s border military units. The soldiers were visited by beloved and long-awaited guests — singer Arsen Safaryan and his brother, composer Artur Safaryan.

The guests were accompanied by the unit’s commander, Colonel T. Hakobyan, who introduced them to the soldiers’ daily life, the conditions in the unit, and its achievements in recent years. Afterwards, the brothers met directly with the soldiers. This time, it wasn’t military officers addressing the room — it was artists stepping onto the “stage.”

What followed was an honest and heartfelt conversation. Soldiers spoke about their daily routines and the unique aspects of military service. In return, the Safaryan brothers recalled their own time in the army.

“Today’s army is more modern, developed, comfortable, and secure. Back when we served, the focus was mostly on physical training. Of course, it wasn’t easy, but we understood that it was all part of preparing ourselves to defend the Homeland,” said Arsen Safaryan.
“Every sacrifice made for the Homeland has meaning. I want each of you to serve with that mindset.”

He shared that he was deeply impressed by the character of the soldiers — their words, their reasoning, and their thoughts — and added with conviction:

“The defense of the Homeland and the peace of the nation are born from the soldier’s spirit. I would entrust my life and future to our soldiers without hesitation.”

His brother, Artur Safaryan, continued:

“Our soldiers are the best. We must do everything to ensure they feel the strong heartbeat of their country and people behind them — the warmth of our spirit and the gratitude of our hearts.”

The conversation continued into the rest period, with soldiers sharing their experiences at frontline positions and border duty.

“After your service, you won’t remember the hardships — only the good memories will remain: the warmth of joyful days, the blessing of unbreakable friendships…”
“Stay strong. Serve with honor, and return home safely,” the Safaryan brothers wished the soldiers.

Then came the main purpose of their visit: a concert dedicated to Armenian soldiers and officers.

They began with a symbolic song:

“Gentlemen officers, your souls are the land and border,
Your hearts our stone fortress, banner, and honor.
For those beside us and those who’ve passed to the sky,
You are our conscience on the road to eternity, gentlemen officers.”

This touching performance marked the start of the concert — as the brothers described it, “for the best audience.”
They sang with emotion and trembling hearts. One by one, the beloved songs followed — about soldiers, officers, and the Armenian army. The energy grew. The troops stood in ovation, applauding enthusiastically.
What began as an ordinary day turned into a true celebration.

The farewell was marked by heartfelt words of gratitude — mutual and sincere. The soldiers thanked the artists for their visit, and the Safaryan brothers expressed appreciation for the warm welcome.

Everyone knew — the memory of this beautiful day would stay with them for a long time.
