Spread of fires in grass-covered areas prevented

From August 6 to 13, the Crisis Management Centers of the Tavush, Kotayk, Gegharkunik, Shirak, and Syunik regional rescue departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service received several alerts regarding fires that had broken out in grass-covered and vegetated areas.

The alerts were recorded particularly in the settlements of Berdavan, Sevqar, Aygedzor, Choratan, Movses of Tavush Province; Alapars, Kamaris, Zovuni, Karashamb of Kotayk Province; Shinuhayr, Srashen of Syunik Province; Vardakar, Hayrenyats of Shirak Province; Gandzak of Gegharkunik Province; and along the Byureghavan–Nurnus highway.

The Rescue Service responded promptly to all alerts, engaging the forces and resources of the regional units in firefighting operations, including personnel from the off-duty shift.

As a result of effective and targeted firefighting actions carried out in areas covering around 10 hectares and more, the firefighter-rescuers skillfully and promptly fought the fires, extinguishing and preventing their spread, thereby protecting settlements and nature.

Volunteers from volunteer firefighter-rescue units, representatives of the eco-patrol service, and citizens were also involved in the firefighting operations.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs Rescue Service urges strict adherence to fire safety rules, especially in forest-adjacent areas and recreational zones.
