On June 2, the big cycling tournament “Ascend Armenia Ultra Distance Bikepacking Race 2023” came to an end in the city park of Dilijan. Professional cyclists from 20 countries took part in the tournament. The total length of the cycling route was 1200 km and passed through the settlements of Vayots Dzor, Gegharkunik, Tavush, Lori and Shirak regions.
The cycling tournament consisted of long and short races.The long race was launched on June 25 from Republic Square in Yerevan. 32 sportsmen took part in it and they passed the whole route in 5-8 days. The short race was launched on July 2 from the village of Margahovit, Lori region. The participants of both races finished the race in the city park of Dilijan, where the Ascend Armenia Cycle Fest was organized.
The winner of the tournament was Adrian Licht from Switzerland, Kai-Uwe Lenuch (Germany) took the second place, Jacob Hora (USA) took the third place.
“Ascend Armenia Cycle Fest” was organized by “Impulse Management Company” and Dilijan Development Fund (DDF) within the framework of the Dilijan Development Project launched in 2012 by Ruben Vardanyan and Veronika Zonabend.
